About PGA National Resort Palmer Course
Please note, you must be a guest at the PGA National Resort to play the PGA National Golf Courses.
The Palmer Course was the last of the four courses built with the PGA National Development. Originally dedicated on February 28,1984, The Palmer course has now undergone a major renovation to recapture the original vision of legendary designer Arnold Palmer. Part of the focus was to recapture large amounts of lost green square footage to the original size of the greens, restoring pin locations that have been lost for years. The reshaped greens, which were converted to Tif-Eagle Bermuda, will allow for greater variety of course setup for regular member, resort and tournament play. The fairways have been converted to the new hybrid Bermuda Celebration with 3 acres added to allow them more forgiving sight lines that enhance optics, playability and bring an element of strategic width back into the golf course. Contours, green approaches/surrounds and bunker lead-ins that were previously covered with thick penal rough have been released to allow the ball to roll up, down and round to provide more ground game attack and recovery options. The bunkers were restored to enhance sightlines and visibility into the bunkers. For instance, the fairway bunkers on No. 15 were repositioned to allow better visibility into each bunker, greenside bunker and fronting pond and to provide more strategic options off the tee in concert with new green size, shape and internal contours.
