City, IA) 2/16/2009 - Huntington Hills has a very difficult opening set of holes (especially 3 & 4), that coupled with start times about every 6 minutes led to a 6 hour round. The first 4 holes took about 2 hours 45 minutes. Make sure you play early or on a light day to avoid the congestion. Huntington Hills also got the reservation wrong, (NOT tee-times) and they delayed us 1.5 hours to wait for a men's league, and we subsequently played a 6 hour round. Staff was cordial. This is a semi-difficult, links-style course with many sand bunkers, elevation changes and water hazards that come into play on several holes. The tree-lined fairways are fairly open, and the greens are large and have medium speed. The elevation spans 95 feet and offers a beautiful view overlooking the city. Man-made lakes were sculptured into the terrain and many oak, sweet gum, and maple trees provide strong winter-leaf colors in the Fall. |
