Tons of traps with light brown/tan sand really stood out in contrast to the green fairways and greens. We took advantage of free replays and enjoyed a great day of golf. Course was in very good shape and the greens challenging. Staff was very nice and the lunch special was awesome. This is a definite play if you are in the area. Posted by Chris. 7/30/2009 - We had picked another course, but Renee had informed us that the course was doing its aeration that week. She suggested Southern Dunes to us and WOW. Outstanding course, great people, and plenty of sand traps. Now that is okay because it makes you select the correct shot. Area was nice on the course, houses, but the houses didn't bother us. Not what Mystic Dunes or Orange County are, but for a nice relaxing round, this course is on our list for next time. If you've not played Southern Dunes, I would absolutely put it on your list. Almost everyone I've spoken to says the same things about this course. Best value for money and a great replay deal. Played with a group of Canadians who helped make the round fun. Played 35 holes as pace of play was excellent. Highly recommend this course. If you can stay clear of the sand traps and bunkers you will have a low scoring round, however, I was not so lucky. I was disappointed that I had not planned my schedule well enough for a second round. I will be back to Florida in 1-09 and do plan to play this course again. Posted by Edward. 11/28/2008 - Beautiful layout and excellent conditioning with some elevation changes to add to the challenge. Greens were large and very undulating. 9/25/2009 - Less than 20 minutes south of Disney. Tons of traps with light brown/tan sand really stood out in contrast to the green fairways and greens. We took advantage of free replays and enjoyed a great day of golf. Course was in very good shape and the greens challenging. Staff was very nice and the lunch special was awesome. 7/30/2009 - We had picked another course, but Renee had informed us that the course was doing its aeration that week. She suggested Southern Dunes to us and WOW. Outstanding course, great people, and plenty of sand traps. Now that is okay because it makes you select the correct shot. Area was nice on the course, houses, but the houses didn't bother us. 4/20/2009 - Best course we played. Should have played 36. Why didn't we? Will consider staying and playing on this course next time as there are very nice homes for rent on course via Florida Spirit. Houses don't really come into play much so don't let that deter you. If you've not played Southern Dunes, I would absolutely put it on your list. 11/28/2008 - They are absolutely correct when they say they have more sand traps and bunkers than any course in Florida. If you can stay clear of the sand traps and bunkers you will have a low scoring round, however, I was not so lucky. I was disappointed that I had not planned my schedule well enough for a second round. I will be back to Florida in 1-09 and do plan to play this course again. Posted by Edward.
