4/26/2012 - The Old Orange Course was excellent, great fairways, lots of water, and outstanding greens. This was the best course of the trip, and we would definitely play this course again We also played the Whispering Oak course and was a little disappointed, the green had been aerated recently and the greens were ok but not as good as the old course Posted by Leonard (Portage, MI) 4/14/2012 - Played Whispering Oak. Very wide fairways let you hit driver without concern for lost balls. Greens are severely contoured and quick. A few greens were too severe but overall one of the best courses I have played in the area. Definitely worth a return visit. Posted by GPlayer (St. John'S, NL CANADA) 3/5/2012 - Nice and interesting course well maintained worth to be played twice. Posted by Kurt (50668 Cologne, GERMANY) 2/2/2012 - Very scenic beautiful surroundings. Too challanging for the average golfer. Based on the skill level of our group I would not play again. Posted by Paul McGrath (Bedford, MA) 12/31/2011 - This was the jewel for the week. We played Whispering Oak. Greens were superb. I would suggest you look at putts from multiple angles. The layout was very creative and enjoyable. I will return. Posted by Paul Schmuck () 12/29/2011 - We played Whispering Oaks at 7:57 am in 48° weather. The course was in very good condition. The greens are a pleasant surprise. Almost flawless and putted around 8-9 on stimpmeter. The layout was very enjoyable. We had a wonderful time. This is a course where your tee shot distance can help a tremendous amount. Not a lot of water. I would definitely return. This is one of the better golf courses I have played in Florida. It would be a good idea to have a 'golf Buddy' or 'shooter' in your bag. All of the pins are prismed. Posted by Paul Schmuck () 11/1/2011 - My son and I enjoyed ourselves very much. Mr. Nicklaus certainly remembered the word 'undulation' when designing the greens at Whispering Oaks! It was challenging but fair. Perfect! Posted by Phil (Hobart, IN) 10/21/2011 - One of the better courses we played, even though our course time was changed. No graphics to see how course set up, yet everyone personnel friendly and helpful. Posted by Ray (Burbank, IL) 4/13/2011 - Worth every dollar of the green fees. The course was in great condition. Friendly staff. The only issue was we wanted a drink at the 19th but they only accepted credit cards and not cash but still a great day out. Posted by Peter (Gillingham Kent Englan, UK) 2/21/2011 - great courses! the people who work there treated us excellent definitely would go back Posted by Richard 1/6/2011 - orange course is a good test with fast and fair green. Bigger greens make you think course is easier than it plays. Nice above average practice area and an okay proshop. Course hides the houses fairly well. Posted by Tom (Saint Charles, MO) 5/19/2010 - Great course. I hope to play it again. Posted by Chris (Syracuse, NY) 3/29/2010 - This was course was great and we actually played it twice. The staff, services avail, etc. were all top notch. Posted by Dave (Worcester, MA) 2/19/2010 - This was a very enjoyable and pretty course. Posted by Margaret (Ardmore, PA) 2/11/2010 - Not a bad course to start on for the snowbird who hasn't touched a club in a while; generous fairways, reasonable green speed, etc. But the overall course condition was only poor to average. Very dry and brown from the cold snap in early January. The other 3 courses that we played were much greener and in better condition. Verandah was a bit disappointing. Posted by John (E Providence, RI) 5/14/2009 - Evil course when the wind blows and it was blowing really hard when we played. Nine and ten played at least 100+ yards. We played an extra nine. The sister course was closed -- no golfers. The restaurant was also closed so they had no place to eat. Sent us down the street to a local bar so our diabetic friend could get some food. Plan ahead. Posted by Ron (Greenwood, IN) 5/14/2009 - Course in very good condition but very much geared to providing for members rather than visitors. Nuisance having to pay for everything with credit card even bottle of water bought from buggy. Posted by Brian (South Croydon, UNITED KINGDOM) 2/13/2009 - Played Whispering Oak this year. Rated it 7.5 out of 10. Rated Old Orange higher two years ago (9). Great place to have lunch after the round. Posted by Helmut (Milwaukee, WI) 2/13/2009 - Decent course. A bit overpriced, but challenging layout. Posted by Joe (Fitchburg, WI) 2/5/2009 - The second best course. A really nice track. Less water holes and excellent greens. Fast and true. A good day on the courrse. Posted by Joseph (Valley Cottage, NY) 1/19/2009 - Wonderful experience, Pro shop staff treated me like a member. Well manicured course. Lots of good holes. A must play if in area. Posted by Karl (Marshall, MO). 1/12/2009 - Our last course - it was the best!! Wonderful and very good shaped. Very great staff, free water, free range-balls. It was a fantastic experience - thank you very much! Posted by Gundolf (El Toro, Spain). 12/4/2008 - We have played most of the golf courses open to the public or semi private in the Ft. Myers/Naples/Marco area over the past 10 years. Verandah is by far our favorite! Old Orange is more scenic because it is developed and Whispering Oaks is slightly more challenging. I am sure in a few years it will be just as beautiful. Both course are top rate. We also found the food in the club was great and the atmosphere very friendly. Posted by John (Wyckoff, NJ). 11/20/2008 - WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!! Awesome course with tons of character and scenery. Fairways are wide and fair. Bring your iron game as the greens are extremely undulating and brutally fun!!!! If you don't hit the correct level or location on the green, it's an almost guaranteed 3 putt. I would play it again and again. Well worth the experience. Posted by Spanky. 10/24/2008 - This course is always in great shape. I make this a must when traveling to Naples/Ft. Meyers. Some tricky greens but very playable. Posted by Dennis (Cutler Bay, FL). 5/30/2008 - Very, very nice. Played second round on other course. Posted by Walter (Dillsburg, PA). 5/9/2008 - Very nice course. We played Whispering course. Staff in pro shop and on course very friendly and willing to assist in any way. Will play again next year! Posted by Francis (Midlothian, VA). 5/5/2008 - Best course that we played during the week. The course was excellent: both condition and layout. Just stay away from the water's edge - gators present!! Even the gators were as friendly as the staff. Posted by Jon (Beverly Hills, MI). 5/5/2008 - Course in fabulous shape; nice layout; well worth the ride from Marco Island. 5/1/2008 - We played Whispering Oak, a Jack Nicklaus design. The course has only been open for a year or so. Even so, the tee boxes and fairways were in good shape and the greens were in very good shape. Another course I will play again when the chance arises. Posted by Paul (Billerica, MA). 4/23/2008 - Great course in perfect condition. Fair price. Rent the range finders, well worth it. Posted by Jerry (Marietta, GA). 4/23/2008 - Played both tracks. Both in great shape, good value, we will return again. Posted by Peter. 4/14/2008 - Very nice course. GPS would improve play. Posted by William (Markham, Canada). 3/13/2008 - Rated Old Orange course a "9" last year. Played Whispering Oak this year and were disappointed as we expected better. Rated it a "6.5". Some of the greens were too "quirky", reminding you of a miniature golf course. Clubhouse and setting is great. Posted by Helmut (Milwaukee, WI). 3/13/2008 - Very enjoyable course to play. Posted by Kenneth (Stony Brook, NY). 3/8/2008 - Fantastic facility. Great golf (we played both courses). Very accommodating staff. We played The Old Corkscrew and I would consider this just a wee bit of a lesser experience. Still worth the price. Posted by Zachary (Green Bay., WI). 2/28/2008 - Well maintained grounds and course..excellent staff/pro shop, people friendly. Would be my choice to join if I moved to Florida.
