Customer Reviews (193)

5/11/2012 - We played this course three times based on a previous trip. Excellent layout and plenty challenging. It's a good course for women from the front tees. Staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Memorable and enjoyable. Posted by Terrence Williams (Londonderry, NH)

5/1/2012 - Worth the short drive to this gem. Only course we replayed. The greens were firm and fast, which made it a little tough for an average golfer, but loved the challenge. Posted by Dustin Theiss (Shelbyville, IL)

4/19/2012 - 35 minutes from Waldorf Hotel, this is a great community golf course with the fastest and hardest greens on our trip. The layout is superb and if hate fairways bunkers don't go there, fun to play and fair course. It was very quiet for a Saturday morning, the starter and the marshalls were very nice and proud of their golf course. It would be nice to have more receptive greens but the course was in good condition Posted by Andre (Varennes, QC CANADA)

4/14/2012 - Great course! Fast greens and immaculate conditions on the entire course. Would be as good as World Woods except there are some homes surrounding the course. Still well worth it.We will surely play it every time we are in Orlando. Posted by Billy D. NJ (St. John'S, NL CANADA)

9/22/2011 - Our group of 12 played here 2 years ago and we decided to return again this year. We were glad we did. It's definitely one of the best courses in the Orlando area and it is a beautiful course as each hole is outlined by the almost 200 traps situated throughout the course. 3/17/2011 - One of my favorites, I play almost every year. Posted by Anthony (Troy, NY)

3/11/2011 - Southern Dunes is a top notch course. Traps are all over the place, but a very fair course. Fairways and greens were in immaculate condition. If I'm not mistaken they tee every 10 minutes so you don't have foursomes breathing down your neck. A must play... Posted by Brian (Horsham, PA)

3/5/2011 - One of my favourites. I can't imagine anyone ever being disappointed with this beautiful golf course. Posted by L. Hubley

3/4/2011 - Very nice course in great condition but way too many bunkers for our taste - almost 200! In play on every single shot. Posted by Matt

3/4/2011 - Absolutely spectacular golf course. A wee bit pricey but well worth it. Posted by Peter (Winnipeg, MB CANADA)

3/4/2011 - what can you say. a great course but played the first 5 holes in the fog. the course was in great shape. not a lot of personel around and not that personable but it's south dunes...greens and fairway were great...best course we played, all 4 agree. you got to play this course if you go to orlando. Posted by Tony (Youngstown, OH)

3/4/2011 - Wow what a course. The fairways and greens were in great condition and it was a great test of golf. There was a premium on being on the correct side of the hole. Downhill putts were super fast. Posted by William (Chesapeake, VA)

3/1/2011 - a beauty..4 1/2 out of 5 Posted by Robert (Chester, NJ)

2/20/2011 - A lot of sand, fairways and greens were in very good condition. Not too difficult for club players, I would recommend this course for anyone. Posted by Markku (76100 Pieksamaki, FINLAND)

2/20/2011 - This was my 4th or 5th time playing this course and I'd play it again. Different for FL because there's almost no water (but they make up for it with bunkers all over the place). Plenty of challenge and a lot of different shaped holes. Posted by Bob (Chester Sprgs, PA)

2/20/2011 - Course was in great shape as always. Service was great too. Posted by John (Dexter, MI)

2/19/2011 - Amazing course! Rates were great in April and the course wasn't busy at all. I will play this course every year that I visit Orlando. This is a course that you could play everyday and it would never get boring!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by joe ()

2/18/2011 - Excellent course. The new greens make this one of the better courses we played in the area. Posted by John (Waupun, WI)

2/18/2011 - Outstanding course in every aspect. Sandtraps galore, but gives you room to hit the ball. Posted by Tom (Penfield, NY)

2/18/2011 - Great course. Conditions were top notch and we loved the layout. Many houses on and around the course as it's built in a development, but the golf course itself was outstanding. Posted by Steve (Rochester, MN)

2/18/2011 - Super conditions and greens running true and fast. Must play course close by to Kissimmee. Posted by Rob (Enfield, CT)

2/3/2011 - What can you say? its always great Posted by Gerald (Raytown, MO)

1/29/2011 - Awesome course and the staff was very friendly. A real classy organization. Posted by Manuel (Clinton, MD)

1/26/2011 - All I can say is WOW. This is truly one on the most beautiful golf courses I have ever played on. To start the fairways and rough have been overseeded. Yes, I said the rough. The greens are a type of new hybrid Bermuda grass. All I can say is LIGHTING FAST, BIG and UNDULATING. They must be rolling at least an 11. IF YOU DON'T LIKE FAST GREENS PAST THIS ONE BY. I went on as a single and got teamed up with a threesome that had played there before what a help. If your iron and wedge game isn't on, prepare yourself for a 4 putt. For you weekend wackers you might want to stay away from this one and for the serious golfer this is truley a DREAM COME TRUE. Thanks Southern Dunes Posted by Len ( Wilm, DE )

1/6/2011 - Very Nice Staff helpful. Posted by Jocelyn (Bedford, UNITED KINGDOM)

12/18/2010 - Very happy with the course. In great condition. The numerous sand traps rarely came in play due to their layout on the course. Posted by Jack (Belchertown, MA)

12/10/2010 - This is one of our favorites. Course was in good condition but a bit on the dry side as there has'nt been rain in some time. Posted by Michel (Montreal, QC CANADA)

12/10/2010 - This is one of our favorite courses but we disapointed in the condition. Will research better before selecting to play again. Posted by Terry (Whitby, ON CANADA)

12/8/2010 - Played this course in 2009 and loved it. This time wasn't as memorable. The course wasn't in good a shape as it was the last time we played it. Still a good course Posted by Joseph (Allentown, PA)

12/6/2010 - Always on our list, always in top shape. The greens were out of this world. People very friendly. Place to play every year. Posted by Serge (Marieville, QC CANADA)

11/26/2010 - Awesome course. Layout very good. Fastest greens I have ever had to putt on. Fun to play. Was a little difficult because of the greens. 182 traps made it interesting. Would love to play again. Posted by Gary (Portland, ME)

11/18/2010 - Excellent track. We all enjoyed the course. Very nice. Posted by Vic (Port Charlotte, FL)

11/18/2010 - It's hard to believe the greens are only 2-months old...the best course on our trip, a great layout, fantastic greens, great facilities and very friendly staff...a must play!!! Posted by WJG (UK)

11/15/2010 - New greens are very nice with a true roll. Love this course as my favorite in the Orlando area. Great service from all employees bar none. Posted by Michael (Clifton Park, NY)

10/7/2010 - Of all the courses played on the weekend, the group liked it the best. Great course. Posted by John (St Petersburg, FL)

6/20/2010 - If you like sand, great course with 163 traps. Our foursome found it too much, otherwise course adequately maintained, but some houses are close to the fairways. Posted by Brian (Bedford, Canada)

5/24/2010 - Played here on a recommendation from a friend. Was not disappointed. 183 bunkers all in play. Makes you think your way around the course, just can't blast away. Nice change to the way you approach your game. On our rotation for future play. Posted by Allan (Dundas, Canada)

5/22/2010 - 4.5 star for us and a very different challenge with a lot of sand trap. Great fun. Posted by Benoit (Montreal, Canada)

5/11/2010 - Visually intimidating. I think sand is free in Florida and they put it to use. This course has a great design, greens were in transition according to ranger, they were a little rough. But very playable. Posted by Brad (New Albany, OH)

5/4/2010 - This is a must play. It is challenging but fair. All the sand creates an interesting round of golf on a beautiful course. The staff was very accommodating and very professional. Highly recommended for an exciting round of golf. Posted by Don (Athens, IL)

4/22/2010 - Permanent stop on our yearly trip, did not disappoint again. The only thing to note is that the practice green is twice as quick compared to the course. Posted by Vitaly (Merrimack, NH)

4/22/2010 - Was in our package last year and it was in this year's for a reason. We feel it's the best value for the money in the greater Orlando area. Now we haven't played the really high end stuff but why would you when you can play Southern Dunes or Metro West or Celebration as part of a very reasonable package which we absolutely received through Tee Times USA. May even consider staying and playing at Southern Dunes in the future. It's a bit of a drive to the south end of the Orlando area but it is definitely worth it. Maybe do Southern Dunes and Diamondback on the same day if you can as they are close together, they both offer unique and challenging layouts and overall great value. Posted by Brian (Ancaster, Canada)

4/15/2010 - Very sweet course. Posted by Brian (Painesville, OH)

4/8/2010 - In the traps very good but too many traps and many with large grass like bushes. Posted by F.J (N Plainfield, NJ)

4/6/2010 - Excellent course in excellent shape. Experience with all course personnel was great. Posted by Rooly (Scarborough, Canada)

4/2/2010 - Great course in excellent condition! Posted by John (Newfane, NY)

4/1/2010 - We love this course and it's always in great shape and staff are very friendly. Posted by William (Sicklerville, NJ)

3/28/2010 - Not on the Power Pack, but it should be. This is the best course we played, and the staff could not be nicer. A real winner. Posted by Gene (Newton, NJ)

3/22/2010 - Service was outstanding and the course was very nice and challenging. Posted by Scott (Bartlett, IL)

3/11/2010 - Great course. Everything was exceptional. Will return again next year. Posted by Al (Pinehurst, NC)

3/8/2010 - The course was in very good shape and well maintained. Tons of sand traps add to the excitement of this track. Posted by Kenneth (Old Orchd Bch, ME)

3/4/2010 - Southern Dunes is a wonderful golf course. The facilities are great and the layout is outstanding. This was the third time we played it and it was probably in the worst condition we ever saw it. The course looked dried out...maybe they were having a drought. The greens were fast as lightning and hard too, but it's still a great golf course and a must play in Orlando. Posted by Mike (Oakton, VA)

2/13/2010 - We love this course. It is speckled with bunkers but they are not unfairly placed. The homes are set back from the fairways. The overall design is very good. We will play it every time we go to Orlando Posted by Peter (New London, NH)

2/11/2010 - Great conditions, enjoy the track... will be on our 2011 list to play. Posted by Robert (Enfield, CT)

1/29/2010 - Sand! After a round here you'll either love or hate the beach! Good conditions and friendly staff. Posted by Harry (Edgewater, MD)

1/21/2010 - Great track nice friendly staff one of the best public courses south of Orlando. Posted by Robert (England, United Kingdom)

1/21/2010 - Nice course, bunkers everywhere but not too hard to get out of, staff was good, greens were fast but true. Would play again Posted by Budd (St. Catharines, Canada)

1/14/2010 - Good greens. Posted by Larissa (Indaiatuba, Brazil)

1/14/2010 - Great course, well groomed and maintained. The best of our 3 choices! Watch out for the fast greens. Posted by Dennis (Mississauga, ON)

12/26/2009 - Out of the six courses we played on our trip, this course #1. Lovely layout and great shape. Posted by Steve (Caledon, Canada)

12/24/2009 - Another great course that we really enjoyed. A must play on our next visit. Posted by Mick

12/22/2009 - Our group loves this course. It was a shame that the day we played there, the rains were very heavy, and we had to stop on the 17th hole because the greens were unputtable. Will definitely be back. Posted by Joseph (Allentown, PA)

12/12/2009 - It is our second time at this course and it is one of the best courses in the area we have played. The course was in wonderful condition and the staff was also fantastic. We always feel very welcome here at Southern Dunes. Posted by Bengt (Svedala, Sweden)

11/26/2009 - Great course, we were 12 in our group and all were unanimous to stay. It's a must if you are in the Orlando region.
Posted by Allan (Gatineau, Canada)

11/26/2009 - The course was in excellant condition. Enjoyed it very much. Posted by David (Fleetwood, United Kingdom)

11/19/2009 - The course we enjoyed the most. Very nice layout, nice fairways and greens, nice people. Posted by Serge (Marieville, Canada)

10/11/2009 - Great course, beatifully maintained, terrific staff.
Posted by Austin (Mount Pearl, Canada)

9/25/2009 - Less than 20 minutes south of Disney. Tons of traps with light brown/tan sand really stood out in contrast to the green fairways and greens. We took advantage of free replays and enjoyed a great day of golf. Course was in very good shape and the greens challenging. Staff was very nice and the lunch special was awesome. This is a definite play if you are in the area. Posted by Jim (Oreland, PA)

8/10/2009 - Nice course, good condition, good level of difficulty for all handicaps. Would play again especially at the Tee Times USA price. Posted by Chris.

7/30/2009 - We had picked another course, but Renee had informed us that the course was doing its aeration that week. She suggested Southern Dunes to us and WOW. Outstanding course, great people, and plenty of sand traps. Now that is okay because it makes you select the correct shot. Area was nice on the course, houses, but the houses didn't bother us. Not what Mystic Dunes or Orange County are, but for a nice relaxing round, this course is on our list for next time. Posted by Ed Loosemore (Houston, TX)

7/23/2009 - Really like the course layout, but greens were not in great shape. Posted by Keith (Marco Island, FL)

6/15/2009 - I can not say enough great things about this course and the service. It was beyond our expectations and everyone was great. Posted by Roland (Doral, FL)

5/18/2009 - Good layout, rating B. Posted by Frederick (West Palm Beach, FL)

5/8/2009 - Great courses. Truly enjoy playing this gem every year. Staff is very helpful and welcoming. Posted by Federico

4/20/2009 - Best course we played. Should have played 36. Why didn't we? Will consider staying and playing on this course next time as there are very nice homes for rent on course via Florida Spirit. Houses don't really come into play much so don't let that deter you. If you've not played Southern Dunes, I would absolutely put it on your list. Almost everyone I've spoken to says the same things about this course. Best value for money and a great replay deal. So why didn't we play 36? Idiots. Posted by Brian (Ancaster, ON CANADA)

4/13/2009 - By far our favorite course of the trip! Posted by Andrew

4/9/2009 - It's a nice course with an interesting layout. The fairways, greens and rough are all in very good shape. It's a Recommended must-play. Posted by Justin (Decatur, GA)

4/2/2009 - This is always a group favorite, even after ten years of playing there. It's always in top condition with quick greens.

4/2/2009 - Southern Dunes is a very nice course that is on our list to play every year. Our twosome was paired with an enjoyable twosome from Canada. Posted by Dave (Omaha, NE)

3/29/2009 - It's an excellent golf course in great condition. I would play it again. It's very friendly for all handicaps. Posted by Gerald (Delmar, IA)

3/26/2009 - Wow, we are still mentally disturbed from the bunkers. There are about one hundred and fifty of them. It's an awesome course. We can't wait to battle it again next year. It's in excellent condition. Posted by Robert (Enfield, CT)

3/26/2009 - This was a fun course to play. It has small greens and big fairways. Watch out for deep pot bunkers. We were treated well by the staff. Posted by William (Sicklerville, NJ)

2/12/2009 - They know customer service at this course. The course was in great shape, the pace of play was great, I was able to play an afternoon round. Have to know this course some what to score low. It is one of my must play courses for Florida. Posted by Edward (Annapolis, MD)

1/22/2009 - Great course. Tons of bunkers. Too tough for high handicappers. Good food. Posted by Tom (St. Clair Shores, MI).

1/15/2009 - Great course in beautiful condition. An excellent value. Posted by Doc

1/15/2009 - Toughest course played in five days. Good condition, great test of golf. Posted by Herb (Beverly Hills, MI).

12/11/2008 - Best of the week, played an extra nine. Posted by Frank (Cheswick, PA).

12/8/2008 - Older clubhouse facilities but what a terrific course. Loved it. Would play again for sure. Thought it might be slow when we started out because of the difficulty but pace of play was excellent. Posted by Garry (Kirkland, Canada)

12/1/2008 - Nice track. This is a must in your golf package. Posted by Allan (Gatineau, Canada).

11/28/2008 - Most enjoyable course I played while in the Orlando area. Entire staff was courteous. Played with a group of Canadians who helped make the round fun. Played 35 holes as pace of play was excellent. Highly recommend this course. Posted by Bill (Solon, IA).

11/28/2008 - They are absolutely correct when they say they have more sand traps and bunkers than any course in Florida. If you can stay clear of the sand traps and bunkers you will have a low scoring round, however, I was not so lucky. I was disappointed that I had not planned my schedule well enough for a second round. I will be back to Florida in 1-09 and do plan to play this course again. Posted by Edward.

11/28/2008 - Beautiful layout and excellent conditioning with some elevation changes to add to the challenge. Greens were large and very undulating. Practice on the putting green is recommended! Played 36 holes between 9am and 4:30 pm. Posted by Steve (Hamilton, Canada).

11/28/2008 - Never miss playing this fine track when in the Orlando area. Always in tip top condition and a fair test of golf and your sand play. Highly recommend this great course. Posted by Michael (Clifton Park, NY).

11/20/2008 - Overrated. Greens were very slow. Course layout was just a course routed through a bunch of houses. Posted by John (Indianapolis, IN).

5/19/2008 - A gem of a course with a wide variety of holes. The only negatives (minor) are that the course winds its way through a development and the wait staff in the restaurant is rather inattentive. Posted by Tom (St. Augustine, FL).

5/17/2008 - Beautiful. Staff was great. Challenging but fair. Stay straight, no need for a big stick. 180+ bunkers. Will go back. Posted by Tim (Geoergetown, Canada).

5/13/2008 - Sand, sand, sand and more sand. A great course, pro shop staff was a little snobby towards us and I am not sure if it was because we were a group of 16. The course was in great shape and a nice layout inbetween all the houses. Overall a great experience. Posted by Frank (North Attleboro, MA).

5/3/2008 - Unquestionably, the highlight of the weekend. The fact that we were able to play it a second time for half the price made it even more incredible. The greens were as true as any I've ever been on. Without a doubt one to come back to. Posted by Gerald (Brooklyn Park, MN).

Tried to get a rain check and they were willing to give us one but because of other tee times we were not able to come up with a date. Want to go back. Posted by Nancy (Perryville, MD).
