The terrain on this course is fairly flat, but there is some mounding that can affect your shots. Due to the destructive force of Hurricane Andrew, and the uprooting of many trees, the club has planted over 550 new trees on the course. There is a thick rough bordering all the fairways. The undulating greens are average in size and speed. The signature hole is #7, a 140-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to an elevated green that is protected by a large horseshoe-shaped sand bunker.

Miami Springs Golf Course presents a challenge at every turn but this championship layout is playable for golfers of all skill levels. It is long enough for the low handicappers, but two sets of forward tees keep the game enjoyable for players with higher handicaps. The newly renovated clubhouse offers an excellent restaurant and Miami Springs is home of the original "Miami Open", first contested back in 1925. The course has hosted the finest players in the world at what was then one of the premier tour events of its time. Multiple winners of this prestigious event included such names as Sam Snead, Gene Sarazen, Tommy Armour and Byron Nelson. |
