4/1/2013 - Red was Challenging and again the hole placement was interesting. Red was in great shape as well. Posted by Peggy (Woodbury, NJ)

1/28/2013 - This course is in good condition and there are some outstanding holes on the back 9. Posted by Robert (LA184QS Cumbria Millom, UNITED KINGDOM)

12/15/2012 - Words cannot express the phenomenal experience here. Everything was in great shape - resort, course, service was over the top. Round of a lifetime. Posted by Sid (Snohomish, WA)

12/7/2012 - Great Course. Fabulous pro shop, interesting and well maintained course. Posted by Brenda (Courtice, ON CANADA)

4/20/2009 - overpriced for hype and course was in the worst shape relative to Doral White and Gold. Doral was/is a good set-up but I''d skip the Red next time.

12/1/2008 - An okay course, but not worth the price. After we played, we heard from other golfers that this was the least nice of the four courses at Doral. Greens were not in the condition you would expect for the price paid. Plus, $90 to rent clubs was outrageous.

4/14/2008 - Very nice course. Had to reschedule for earlier in the day to make sure we made the flights. Posted by Peter (Holliston, MA).

This resort, which was named to "Golf Digest's" 1998 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," has four outstanding eighteen hole courses. Playing these courses is considered to be the ultimate golfing experience. Since there are a variety of courses to choose from, every conceivable kind of challenge is available. The most demanding layout is the Blue Course. This course hosts the Doral-Ryder Open every year in March. "GOLF Magazine" even selected it to their 1998 list of "Top 10 PGA Courses You Can Play." "Golf Digest" chose this course as the 10th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 11th in 1997-98. It was also selected by the same publication as 42nd in the category of "Top 75 Resort Courses" for 1996. "GOLF Magazine" selected the Blue Course 29th in the category of "Top 100 Course You Can Play in the U.S." for 1998. Ray Floyd redesigned this course prior to the 1997 Doral-Ryder Open. The Gold Course, which was also redesigned by Floyd, has narrow, well-bunkered fairways, including nine that are doglegs. The signature hole is #18, a 397-yard, par 4, which calls for an approach shot to an island green. The Red Course was redesigned in 1989 and features undulating greens that can be difficult to read. Hole #5 was changed from a par 5 to a par 3 in 1997. The White Course has rolling fairways and greenside sand bunkers. All four courses have water hazards coming into play, including the Gold Course, which has water in play on every hole. The Doral Golf Learning Center with Jim McLean is located on the premises. Caddies are mandatory if you choose to walk the courses.

About Doral Red Course

The Red Course forces golfers to use strategy and shot placement, rather than driving for show. Unique to the Red Course are two island greens at hole 6 and 14. Featuring 14 water holes with fairways winding around several lakes, the course provides breath-taking beauty and exhilarating challenges, without intimidating length. This course hosted the LPGA in 2001 for the Office Depot Championship.
